About this file

This document is an Addendum #2 to solicitation BL080-24 for the Inspection, Maintenance and Repair of Hoists and Cranes on an Annual Contract. The addendum provides clarification on several questions related to the scope of work, including the annual requirement to drain and flush all gear cases, the load testing requirement to be conducted at 100% of capacity, and revisions to the annual maintenance checklist to include inspection of hoist upper and lower limit switches. Additionally, the addendum revises the parts pricing requirement, stating that contractors must indicate costs for all repair and replacement parts supplied on the invoice, including lubricants, at a markup not to exceed 10% over the contractor's cost. Contractors must provide copies of supplier invoices to verify the percentage charged above cost for all materials supplied.

ADDENDUM #2

BL080-24, Inspection, Maintenance and Repair of Hoists and Cranes on an Annual Contract

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

1. Section III, Item C Annual Major Maintenance states; “Drain and flush all gear cases.” This is a closed gear box and is not typically done on a closed gear box. A closed gear box will not allow for dirt or outside impurities to get into the oil or gearbox. It is also not a high temperature environment where the oil may break down. Will the awarded vendor be required to perform this service annually or is every four years acceptable? This is to be done annually.

2. Section IV Load Testing, Item A, will load testing be done at 100% of capacity or at 125% of capacity? Load testing will be done at 100% of capacity.

REVISIONS:

1. Please replace the question and answer for item 6 in Addendum #1 to the following:

“In regard to Section III, Item C Annual Major Maintenance, please provide the procedure for checking the load limiter, testing. The load limiter is typically done at the manufacturers factory typically 150% to 200% of the rated load. This cannot be safely done in the field in a building structure that was designed rated at 100% load. If you are required to test at greater than 125%, we will require a legal document stating that you take complete responsibility for overloading the system and building structure. Remove ‘Check load limiting device’ from checklist for Annual Major Maintenance.”

2. ADD The following requirement to Section III, Item A, Bi-Annual Minor Maintenance, Item B, Annual Minor

Maintenance, and Item C, Annual Major Maintenance checklists: “Inspect hoist upper and lower limit switches for proper operation.”

3. Revise Section II, Item A, Parts Pricing to the following:

A. Parts Pricing:

Contractor shall indicate costs for all repair and replacement parts supplied on the invoice. This includes lubricant used for refilling gear cases. Price listed should be cost plus percentage of mark up (not to exceed 10%). Please indicate the percentage of markup above cost on the bid schedule. Special delivery or overnight emergency shipping will be paid upon submission of proof of charges. Contractors shall include a copy of their supplier's invoices for review to verify the percentage above cost charged for all materials supplied.

This addendum should be signed in the space provided on the Bid Schedule. Failure to do so may result in your quote being deemed non-responsive.

Thank you, Jenny Coleman Purchasing Associate II
