About this file
This is a Bidder Questions & Answers document for Michigan's Department of Transportation (MDOT) RFP 260000002057 concerning Winter Maintenance Truck Components. The solicitation addresses the procurement of pre-wet systems and associated components for MDOT winter maintenance trucks, including hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, flow meters, nozzle kits, and liquid tanks. The document provides clarifications on nine key specifications and requirements, establishing that vendors must supply controllers for ground speed-controlled pre-wet systems, with hydraulic motors directly coupled to pumps meeting Model 4211-035 PENTAIR specifications. Tank requirements specify existing MDOT part numbers (PN 00012640 for 100-gallon and PN 00012641 for 75-gallon units) that must fit both combination bodies and slide-in material spreaders.
Critical specifications include mandatory stainless steel hydraulic lines with bulkhead fittings (zinc plated alternatives are not acceptable), discharge-side strainers with optional suction-side additions, and Dickey-John flow meters or acceptable alternatives such as Micro track FM500/Turbine units. The document confirms that pre-wet electric controls with 15-amp drivers will be controlled by the vendor-supplied controller rather than existing truck controllers. Tank kits must include one-piece stainless steel trays mounted to slide-in hopper assemblies, and nozzles may be provided with or without steel guards at vendor discretion. These specifications establish baseline requirements for bidders responding to the winter maintenance truck components solicitation.
