About this file

This is a bid bond form template issued by the State of Maryland, effective May 1, 2018. The document outlines the requirements for a bid bond that must be at least 5% of the total bid amount, binding both the Principal (bidding company) and Surety to the State of Maryland. The bond guarantees that if the Principal's bid is accepted, they will execute the necessary contractual documents and provide required bonds within 10 days of receiving the forms, or within the specified period if different.

The bond form includes sections for three different types of Principal entities: Individual Principal, Partnership Principal, and Corporate Principal. It requires corporate seals from both the corporation and surety company, with specific instructions that individual and partnership principals can accomplish this by either leaving "(SEAL)" as is or writing "SEAL" after signers' names. The document must include an original power of attorney and requires approval from the DGS Assistant Attorney General. The surety agrees that any bid acceptance extensions granted by the Principal to the State (up to 90 additional calendar days) will not impair their obligation.
