About this file

This document is a bid amendment with questions and answers related to the replacement of two retrofit boiler burners for Kewanee model M265KG boilers in Fulton County, Illinois. The project requires the installation of an emergency shut-off switch, as the current control system does not provide an "on/off" signal for automatic burner operation. The current pneumatic actuators controlling the combustion air dampers will be replaced with new controls as part of the project scope. The overall project is for the IRCC - R&M Retrofit Boiler Burners - JSW contract opportunity.

The pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent information, and funding details are not provided in this document. However, the bid amendment indicates that the current control system only controls the three-way valves in the system and does not provide boiler set-point reset to the new burners.

QUESTION AND ANSWER

25-426DOC-ILRIV-B-44994

Question: Do these boilers currently have an operable emergency remote shut-down switch installed?

Answer: We will install an emergency shut-off switch

Question: The replacement burners require an “on/off” signal for automatic operation in the form of a set of dry-contacts rated for 5A. Do you have this available in your current control system?

Answer: No

Question: Related to the above question, assuming you have a control system, will it be providing boiler set-point reset to the new burner? If so, what type of signal?

Answer: No, the control system only controls the three-way valves in the system.

Question: You currently have pneumatic actuators operating the combustion air dampers serving these boilers. They are controlled by an unknown source and appear non-operational (see attached photo). Are you expecting the contractor to remedy the current state of these actuators/dampers within the scope of this project? If so, please precisely specify the scope of work regarding the actuators, dampers and their controls.

Answer: We will replace the old damper controls with new.
