About this file

This document is an amendment to a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued by the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) for a 4-month rental of a 20-ton chiller and necessary components/accessories for the Sheridan Correctional Center. The RFQ provides responses to vendor questions, including information on subcontractor requirements, prevailing wage, rental timeframe, equipment requirements, operating temperatures, and final electrical connections. The rental period is expected to be from June 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024.

The document indicates that the facility staff will be able to make the final electrical connections, if necessary. It also specifies that the contractor is required to provide a standalone unit that incorporates all necessary equipment, as the facility does not have existing circulation pumps. The amendment further clarifies the required cable length, which is 50 feet.

IDOC – Sheridan Correctional Center – DECRIPTION Bid #24-426DOC-SHERI-B-42847 Amendment #1 Response to Vendors’ Questions to Request for Quote (RFQ)

Below is he response to the questions that IDOC has received regarding the above RFQ:

1. Please advise if we can submit our bid utilizing a 100% subcontractor.

RESPONSE: Please see section 1.6 of the RFQ (contract) in the attachments tab for information regarding subcontractors.

2. Checking to see if this is a ‘prevailing wage’ job.

RESPONSE: This depends on if the project requires a prevailing wage position or not. (e.g. If an electrician is required for the project, then that electrician would have to be paid prevailing wage.)

3. Rental Start time frame?

RESPONSE: As per the attached RFQ (contract), the expected rental timeframe is June 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024.

4. As far as pumps, would you like us to provide them or use yours?

RESPONSE: We need a standalone unit that all equipment is incorporated into it. We do not have circulation pumps in place.

5. What will be your operating temperature?

RESPONSE: ~70 – 72 degrees

6. What distance of cables is needed?

RESPONSE: 50’ should cover it. Last year we were charged for 50’, but the 2022 season we were charged for 100’.

7. Would the site engineer take care of the duct work, final connections and hard wiring the electrical or would contractor(s) be needed to perform the final connection(s)?

RESPONSE: Facility staff is able to make final connection(s) if necessary.
