About this file

This document is a response to clarifying questions submitted by interested firms regarding Invitation to Bid #2022-12 for the Barton Park Day Use Well Project issued by Clackamas County and Oregon City. The project involves the installation of a new well house with a 300 amp panel and 120/230 volt connection at the site. The required water flow is 80 gallons per minute at 65 psi. The solicitation indicates a preference for galvanized pipe material over stainless steel, and that drilling tailings can be dispersed on-site with the exception of drilling mud, which must be hauled away. Minor site access improvements such as brush cutting may be coordinated between the contractor and park staff.

The bid solicitation does not provide details on pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent contractors, funding sources, or dollar amounts. The document focuses solely on responding to technical and logistical clarifying questions from interested bidders.

INVITATION TO BID #2022-12

Barton Park Day Use Well Project (“BID”)

RESPONSE TO CLARIFYING QUESTIONS#1

February 14, 2022

Note that these are questions submitted by interested firms to the above referenced solicitation.

The below answers are for clarification purposes only and in no way alter or amend the BID as published.

1. The document lists 2 line, 3 phase power at the well house. What is the power voltage supplied at the well house for the new pump?

Answer: According to our records, the well house has a 300 amp panel, with a 120/230 volt connection.

2. The specs list a water need of 80gpm, at what PSI do you want the 80gpm? Typically, the booster pumps are ranted with a maximum psi on the intake side.

Answer: 65 psi should be sufficient.

3. Is there an engineering preference on down pipe material? Galvanized is common, Stainless steel has a much longer life span but a lot more expensive.

Answer: Galvanized is acceptable.

4. Is there an area to disperse the tailings from the drilling process, or are they required to be hauled away from the site?

Answer: Tailings can be dispersed in the woods, but drilling mud should be hauled away.

5. Are there any improvements needed to the area to access the well site with a drill rig?

Maps look like there is easy access currently.

Answer: There is decent access; minor brush cutting and tree limbing can be accomplished by park staff if coordinated with contractor beforehand.
