LASER EFFECTS ASSESSMENT, MODELING, AND RESEARCH (LEAMR)
Technical Area 12 – Laser Interaction Testing Special Topic Area 12-1 16 April 2014
1. Special Topic Areas The Contractor has the opportunity to present a Contractor Statement of Work (CSOW) describing a novel solution to one or more of the following topics:
1.1. Non-contact high heating rate (several 100º C/sec) material properties measurements, specifically:
1.1.1. Optical (absorptance, reflectance and transmission)
1.1.2. Specific heat
1.1.3. Thermal conductivity
1.1.4. Thermal diffusivity
1.2. Experimental laser/material interaction imagery that can accomplish the following:
1.2.1. Record interaction through flames and smoke
1.2.2. Surface response to laser interaction at high irradiance values
1.2.3. Plume attenuation and species quantification
1.3. Data collection under high heating rate environments
1.3.1. Target thermal and structural response under rapidly changing thermal environments
1.4. Novel laser diagnostics in the areas of:
1.4.1. Beam quality and imagery
1.4.2. Irradiance
1.4.3. Power
1.5. Development of imaging system test-beds to include:
1.5.1. Design and fabrication
1.5.2. Operation
2. Format for CSOW The contractor shall propose to the above topics using the following format for response
