About this file

This document contains the responses to a Request for Information (RFI) for the B320 Parachute Tower Repair project at the Portland Air National Guard facility in Portland, Oregon. The project involves the replacement of connecting hardware and pulleys on the parachute tower, but does not include the replacement of cables and associated hardware. The RFI also addresses the specifications of the exhaust fans, the option to provide a quote for a roll-up door instead of a double drive metal door, and the requirement for the contractor to use a lift within the tower. The related state and local contract opportunity is for the C-24-2007 - PANG B320 Parachute Tower Repair project, which is located in Multnomah County, Oregon.

The responses indicate that the contractor who wins the bid is responsible for following all OSHA rules and regulations, and the means and methods are not dictated by the government. The door widening is still required as part of the project scope, regardless of the contractor's ability to perform the work without the use of a lift.

B320 Parachute Tower RFI RESPONSES

Question Answer After the site visit, the revised scope of work is going to include: replacement of the connecting hardware to the tower and all pulleys. Will it include the replacement of the cables and all associated hardware as well?

Replacement of the pulleys are the only requirement for this project.

Hooks and cables are NOT part of the scope.

What are the specifications on the exhaust fans, including the dimensions and part number?

We do not have specs on the original equipment. However, it appears to be between 20-24” across at roof curb. Please refer to picture below.

For the replacement door, is it acceptable to provide a quote for a roll-up door as opposed to a double drive metal door?

Please keep the standard double door in the lump sum. It is acceptable to add a line item for a rolling door. However, the cost will drive this decision.

After the site walk, it appears that our team has the necessary experience, training and equipment to replace all the required hardware without using a lift inside of the tower. If we can provide the services without a lift, do you still want us to include the door widening and replacement in our quote?

The contractor who wins the bid, is responsible for following all OSHA rules and regulations. Means and methods are not dictated by the government.

The door widening is still required.
