About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for the Zapata Falls Campground Improvements project. The Q&A addresses 12 specific contractor inquiries, including clarifications about project details such as: there is no vault toilet in the project, the BLM pit does not have minerals available at standard market price, boulders excavated from the site can be used if they meet size requirements, and Site #2 will require 3 timber steps not originally shown in drawings. Additional key details include confirmation that existing site trails should be removed and scarified, fewer than 10 picnic tables will be removed, old culverts can be disposed of, construction water must be purchased offsite, and fire rings and bear-proof trash cans will be available for pickup at the Monte Vista field office. The document also notes that contractor-formed concrete bases for bear-proof trash containers are required, and provides flexibility on construction dates, particularly for items with extensive construction timelines.

ZAPATA FALLS Q & A:
1. There was a question about the vault toilet on the second page of the schedule of items.
There is no vault toilet in this project. Attached is the updated schedule of items/bid sheet.
2. There were questions about using the BLM Pit for road base - UPDATE the BLM pit does not have BLM minerals available and the price is the normal market price from the pit. The contractor may use any pit with acceptable materials in the area and this should be reflected in the contractor's bid. Please see updated bid sheet.
3. Boulders excavated from the site can be used if they meet the desired size requirements.
4. Site #2 should have 3 timber steps that were not shown in the drawings. An updated sheet has been attached.
5. Should the existing site trails be removed and scarified? Yes, this was not noted in the specs and has been updated. The updates to the specs have been underlined in the updated document and it is attached. Page numbers have also been attached to the specs for ease of use.
6. How many picnic tables are there to remove? Fewer than 10 existing tables. Not sure of the exact number.
7. Does the BLM want the old culverts? No they can be disposed of.
8. What is a water source nearby for construction water? Water will need to be purchased offsite and trucked in, Rocky Mountain Septic in Alamosa is one option.
9. Can the dates be pushed back? Consideration will be given for items with extensive construction dates (like the concrete picnic tables) and the dates can be adjusted slightly to accommodate delivery of those items. Ideal construction time is still in the fall as spring time weather can be unpredictable.
10. Fire rings and bear proof trash cans can be picked up at the field office in Monte Vista.
11. Do the Government supplied Bear Proof trash containers include the base shown on blueprint Sheet 23 of 24 or does the contractor form and pour them onsite?
The base is not included and will be formed and poured by the contractor on site.
12. 2) On the Schedule of Items. Do we use the Engineers Estimate sheet to price the Schedule of Items sheet and submit both with the bid?
A corrected bid sheet will be provided. The numbers haven't changed from the original sheet, just the 2nd page removed and the formatting improved as well as dates updated to match the contract.
