About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the modification of a 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van (VIN: W1W4KDHY8RT171771) owned by the government and currently located at 501 W. Felix St, Building #24, Fort Worth, TX 76115. The Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center (OTWSC) requires conversion of the existing van into a dedicated mobile laboratory enclosure for water-quality sample collection, equipment calibration, and transport. Materials must minimize cross-contamination between camper materials and water samples. The van specifications include a diesel fuel type, 170-inch wheelbase, 9050 lbs GVWR, and existing features such as Bluetooth, pre-wiring for tow bar receiver, remote keyless entry, and a sliding side door.
The SOW requires installation of a 6500W generator in a completely enclosed, separately vented area accessible only from outside the van with an interior push-start button; a roof-mounted air conditioner to cool the lab portion separated from the cab; comprehensive electrical infrastructure including six interior 110V outlets, two exterior covered outlets, and low-profile LED lighting; an enclosed rear laboratory area with carbon monoxide containment capability, four floor-mounted tie-down anchors, and two flush-mounted sinks (15" x 13" x 7" preferred) with drain systems; countertops at 38 inches from floor with 20-inch depth along the rear wall and driver side; white cabinetry with D-rings and tie-down anchors throughout; overhead storage including a dedicated space for one water carboy container with tubing port; passenger-side floor-to-ceiling clean storage cabinet accommodating corrosive and flammables cabinets; wall insulation with white non-metallic covering; new light-colored water-resistant flooring; closeable side wall ports for external tubing access; and trailer hitch receiver installation with spare tire relocation if necessary.

Statement of Work:
The Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center (OTWSC) requires modificaƟon of a Sprinter van. This vehicle will be a dedicated mobile enclosure for collecƟon of water-quality samples, and calibraƟon and transport of equipment designed for these purposes and made of materials that minimize the possibility of cross-contaminaƟon between the camper materials and the water-quality samples. This is a modificaƟon to an exisƟng Government owned Sprinter Van located in the Fort Worth, TX area.
Van LocaƟon: 501 W. Felix St Bldg #24 Fort Worth, TX 76115
(In Government Possession)
Van Specifica ons:
Make: 2024 MERCEDES-BENZ Sprinter
VIN: W1W4KDHY8RT171771
Fuel Type: Diesel Wheelbase: 170 Inches GVWR: 9050 lbs Windows: Windshield, Driver Door, Passenger Door Floor Heat: No Headliner/ Rear A/C: No AddiƟonal OpƟons: Bluetooth, Pre-wiring for Tow Bar Receiver, Remote Keyless entry, Sliding side Door
• Generator (6500W) for Lab AC, Lab lights, and powering sample processing equipment. It needs to be secƟoned off in a completely enclosed area and vented to the outside of the van and needs to be accessible from outside of the van. Needs to have a push start buƩon located with the lab porƟon of the van.
• Air condiƟoner will be installed on top of the van to cool lab porƟon of the vehicle that will be separated from van cab. Could possibly be connected to vent system in back of van. May need extra support on the roof of the van for support of air condiƟoner.
• Electricity in the back of the van with 2 double 110 outlets inside on driver side of the van, and 1 double 110 outlet inside on the passenger side (3 total). Strip of low-profile LED lights down center of van installed on the inner roof. Two covered outlets outside of van—one on each side.
Electricity and lights in lab porƟon of vehicle to be powered by generator.
• An enclosed area at rear of van that is walled off from the rest of the vehicle and is accessible only from the rear van doors. This wall will need to have the capability to prevent any carbon monoxide from entering the lab area of the van. Need 4 floor-mounted Ɵe-down anchors that fold flush with the floor and drain in the corner opposite generator.
• Counters on the rear wall of the van and along the driver side (opposite of the side sliding door).
Both of which include flush mounted sinks. Sinks do not need faucet and should drain to open space storage cabinet under sink to store holding tank for sink. Preferred size of sink would be 15in by 13in by 7in. Counter tops need to be 20in deep and installed 38in from floor of van.
• Port to outside of van from under-sink waste-water storage tanks. Port needs to be ouƞiƩed with a hose adapter to allow water to be released away from where van is parked. Needs to have water release controls outside of van.
• Rear cabinets – Open-storage under-counter cabinets for rear counter area including doors.
• Driver side cabinets – Under counter cabinets with shelves and drawers for counter to leŌ of sink on driver side, including doors. Open-storage under-counter cabinets under driver side sink, including doors. Empty space under cabinet to right of driver side sink, with 4 floor-mounted Ɵe-down anchors that fold flush with the floor to secure cooler/equipment
• Overhead cabinets on driver side (opposite of side sliding door). One area of the overhead cabinet space should be open space for locaƟon of one water carboy container (12” wide). The open space container area should be above the sink, and with a hole in the boƩom at front of cabinet to pass a tube through (1” diameter minimum). All cabinets should be white and no metals except for necessary closures, fasteners, and handles. All cabinet doors / drawers need to be lockable or secured with hardware that will prevent opening during vehicle movement. All cabinets should have D-rings/Ɵe-down anchors to strap down stored equipment.
• Passenger side - On the side of the van with the sliding door a floor-to-ceiling clean storage cabinet. It should include storage of 1 corrosive cabinet and 1 flammables cabinet.
• Need insulaƟon on walls of truck for air condiƟoner efficiency and should be covered with white material that is not metallic.
• New floor installed with light colored, water-resistant, easy-to-clean similar to durable linoleum.
• Need closeable ports mounted on the side walls of the vehicle that will allow 1in tubing to pass through from the outside and enter over the sinks.
• Need trailer hitch receiver installed
• If necessary, need spare Ɵre re-mounted if current locaƟon interferes with trailer hitch receiver installment.
