About this file
This document is a Summary of Work section for a federal contract to replace water treatment plant pumps at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The project involves replacing twelve total pumps across three locations: Katherine Landing, AZ (two feed pumps), Callville Bay, NV (two feed pumps, two finish water pumps, one CIP pump), and Echo Bay, NV (two feed pumps, two finish water pumps, one CIP pump).
Key requirements include installing pumps compatible with existing systems, capable of specific performance metrics (e.g., 348 gpm at 30 psi), and meeting NSF 61 drinking water standards. The contractor must install pumps one at a time, conduct 24-hour test runs, maintain continuous water treatment plant operation, and ensure compatibility with existing variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, and SCADA systems. The performance period is 180 calendar days, with an anticipated contract award date of 6/2/25 and project completion by 12/2/25. The prime contractor must directly superintend the project on-site and respond to warranty service calls within 3 calendar days.

2. The new pumps and motors must be installed one at a time and given a 24-hour test run before installing the second pump to ensure proper operation and to eliminate any chance of down time for the water treatment plant. Existing pumps will not be removed from the water treatment plant until new pumps have been tested and proven to work properly. Continued operation of the water treatment plant must be maintained throughout pump replacement. Switch over to new pumps will be scheduled with and observed by NPS personnel.
3. New pumps/ motors must be compatible with existing variable frequency drives
(VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA).
