I. GENERAL INFORMATION

a. INTRODUCTION. The Department of the Interior (DOI), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC) 4200 New Haven Road, Columbia, MO 65202 has a requirement for roof repairs on the polyurethane foam (PUF) roof installed on the A3 Main Building.

b. BACKGROUND. The A3 Main Building at the Columbia Environmental Research Building is a 34,019 square foot research laboratory building that houses several research laboratories, office space, and a 6,000 square foot research wet laboratory. The area that shall be repaired under this order consists of approximately 42,200 square foot (3920.5 sq/m) of polyurethane foam (PUF) encapsulated roof. The PUF was installed in 2006 and an acrylic elastomeric coating was applied with granules. In April 2023, hail damage occurred to the roof necessitating repair. On the roof there are nineteen fume hood blowers with exhaust stacks, a rooftop air handling unit with associated air duct, several condensing units, and various appurtenances. It is incumbent on the contractor to verify all pertinent measurements and preconstruction conditions. Existing material is White-Knight Plus, Garland company.
