About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the Pine Grove Exclosure Fencing project, part of a larger federal contract opportunity for Blue Rim & Pine Grove Fencing.

The SOW requires the contractor to remove approximately 23,706 linear feet of existing 3-wire barbed wood post and top rail fence, and 212 linear feet of buck and rail fence. The contractor will then construct approximately 20,446 linear feet of new 3-wire fence with a steel drill stem top rail and posts, including 56 three-post corners, 40 lateral support braces, 7 steel pipe gates, and 1 steel cattleguard. The work is located in Sublette County, Wyoming. The SOW provides detailed technical specifications for the fence construction. No direct payment will be made for mobilization, and payments will be made per linear foot of fence constructed and per each gate/cattleguard installed. The federal agency involved is the Bureau of Land Management.

Formwork not supporting concrete, such as sides of walls and similar parts of the work, may be removed after curing at not less than 50o F for 24 hours after placing concrete, when the concrete is sufficiently hard so as not to be damaged by form removal, and when curing and protection operations are maintained as specified.

F. Reinforcing Steel: One row of reinforcing steel shall be placed in the center of the concrete collar with at least 2 ½ inches of cover. Reinforcement shall be held securely by steel wire, mortar blocks, or metal chairs during the placement of concrete. Reinforcement shall be securely wired in proper position and shall be adequately supported before concrete is placed.

G. Concrete Mixing:

1. Mix materials for concrete in a drum-type batch machine mixer. For mixers of one cubic yard or smaller capacity, mix concrete for a minimum of 1 ½ minutes but not more than 5 minutes after ingredients are in the mixer before the batch is released. For mixers with a capacity larger than one cubic yard, increase the minimum mixing time by 15 seconds for each additional cubic yard (or portion thereof).

Concrete shall be placed in maximum lifts of 18 inches, and shall be well vibrated, rodded, or spaded into place to fill voids and angles, and to ensure smooth surfaces and dense concrete. Concrete shall be deposited as nearly as is practicable to its final position and shall not be permitted to flow in a manner that will cause segregation of the materials. Concrete must not be dropped more than 5 feet vertically without use of a tremie or similar device. When a bond is desired between a fresh pour of concrete placed against concrete which has set, the surface of the concrete already in place shall be thoroughly cleaned of loose material, and the old concrete shall be soaked with water.

When no bond is desired between the old and the new, the surface of the old concrete that will come in contact with the fresh concrete shall be painted with an asphaltum or other suitable material to prevent bonding.

3. Hot Weather Concreting: ACI 305R.
