Transmittal #: X285362 (BRP WP 63)
Dear Mr. Layton:
The Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP or the Department) has reviewed your plans submitted via email on October 2, 2020 and additional submittals on November 13, 2020 detailing the installation of a new Title 5 system for the proposed Multipurpose building and travel trailer at the Berkshire National Fish Hatchery in New Marlborough, Massachusetts. The application proposes to install a two-compartment, 1,500-gallon septic tank for the proposed bathroom in the “Multipurpose Building”. A second, a two-compartment 1,500-gallon septic tank is proposed to be located on the west end of the property to service the travel trailer. Both septic tanks’ discharge lines will be joined before a distribution box which will be connected to the new Soil Absorption System (SAS) system. The SAS will consist of a 574 square foot leaching bed with two distribution lines. The established percolation rate for design of the SAS system is 7 min/ inch. The design flow for this new Title 5 System is 378 gallons per day which equals the System's approved calculated capacity is based on the loading rates used from 310
CMR 15.242 for the system.
Accompanying this application were two sets of plans consisting of two (2) sheets each titled:
