1.0 Background and Scope
The McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP) has a requirement to replace the fire tubes on Boiler No. 1 and Boiler No. 2 located in Building 165. A severe leak in an isolated fire tube has rendered the units inoperable. The contractor shall mobilize a certified boiler mechanic to perform all necessary labor, cutting, welding, installation, and testing required to return both boilers to safe operational status.
2.0 Equipment Details
The work shall be performed on the following government-owned equipment:
Equipment Description Model Number Serial Number Location
Boiler No. 1 Cleaver-Brooks CB200-250-150ST L54363 Building 165
Boiler No. 2 Cleaver-Brooks CB200-250-150ST L54362 Building 165
3.0 Technical Requirements & Contractor Tasks
The Contractor shall perform the following tasks:
• Mobilization: Mobilize a qualified boiler mechanic to the job site. The contractor shall supply all necessary specialized tools, piping, hardware, and electrical components required to complete the installation.
• Technical Execution:
• Cut two (2) flush patches on each side of the fire tunnel. If a flush patch is technically unfeasible, a tube ligament repair shall be utilized as the secondary option.
• Remove legacy fire tubes and install the government-furnished replacement fire tubes. Up to 180 fire tubes are to be replaced per boiler, 360 total fire tubes.
• Perform seal welding of tubes as necessary in accordance with applicable ASME codes.
• Testing & Restoration:
• Perform a hydrostatic test ("hydro") of the boilers up to standard operating pressure to verify structural integrity.
• Complete the formal closing/sealing of both the waterside and fireside of the vessels.
• Housekeeping: Clean and restore the work area to its pre-work condition daily.
The contractor is responsible for disposing of contractor-generated waste into the government-provided dumpsters.
4.0 Government-Furnished Property (GFP) and Services
The Government will provide the following to facilitate the work:
• Materials: Replacement fire tubes (to be received, unloaded, hauled, and staged near the boilers by the Government).
• Fire tubes: 360 total fire tubes, 2-1/2" x 131-1/2" x 0.105 wall thickness
• Utilities: Electricity, water, and access to sanitary facilities.
• Disposal: On-site trash dumpsters for work-related waste.
