This project is located at Cedar Break National Monument maintenance area. The site is at an elevation of above 10,000 ft and subject to extreme weather including deep snowfalls, high winds, monsoonal rain and deep freeze-thaw cycles. The buildings are winterized each year. The Maintenance building is approximately 60 years old and received an interior renovation approximately 10 years ago. The

Maintenance storage shed is approximately 30 years old and the Generator shed is over 50 years old.

4.0 SPECIFIC WORK / TASKS:

Inspection and testing of area with suspected Lead Paint. These areas include Maintenance

Building: exterior eaves (approx. 75LF) and interior ceiling in office/ break room (approx.

1040 sq. ft) and Maintenance Storage shed exterior.

In areas lead paint is detected remove & dispose per State of Utah and NPS guidelines

Repaint areas where existing lead paint was removed. Match existing color.

Installation of joint sealants as required between dissimilar materials

a. Concrete Fuel Tank Pad (to be performed before work on maintenance building)

• Coordinate with NPS to confirm final location for new fuel tank. Tank should be at least 25’ from building and should not be place within 6’-0” from an existing tree. A proposed location is shown on attach drawing-contractor will verify if this is acceptable.

• Prepare/ clear site as need to receive new concrete slab including necessary grading.

• Contractor to verify utility connections from existing (first fuel type) to new fuel tank location. These include connections to Veeeder-Root fuel system (for part of new split tank), electricity and (2) emergency shut-offs.

Contractor to provide extension of existing utilities to new area if necessary. (Piping, wire, etc.)

• Contractor to install new utility connections for second fuel type in split tank. These include connections to Veeeder-Root fuel system (for part of new split tank), electricity and (2) emergency shut-offs.

• Form and pour new 4” concrete pad drive aisle per fuel – 7’ wide, flared to existing asphalt road. (10’ flair)

• Form and pour new 4” concrete pad per fuel Tank Manufacturer specifications, include necessary work for bollard installation prep.

• There should be a minimum of 3’-0” clear between fuel tank and bollards.

Bollard to be placed a maximum 3’-0” apart.

• Saw cut control joints ¼ depth.

• Install new fuel tank on pad

• Transfer fuel, if any, from existing tank to appropriate compartment of split tank.

• Remove & dispose of existing fuel tank

• Install (24) -4” Steel concrete filled bollards, coordinate installation with fuel tank installer to be complete once fuel tank is in place.

• Complete final connections to existing fuel system and electrical. Install emergency shut-offs (one 3’ above ground and one 8’ above ground) and test.

b. Exterior Channel Drain at Maintenance overhead door

• Using existing NPS survey to prepare drainage plan/ designs.

• Coordinate with Park FM for closure of garage access.

• Demo existing concrete and asphalt as needed. Demo existing bollards at existing fuel pad

• Form and pour new to concrete drain channel- drain to daylight. Drainage channel should be in minimum 10” clear interior of channel.

• Install necessary steel drive grates (traffic rated for heavy equipment)

• Place new asphalt to tie in existing drive/ parking area to new concrete.
