About this file
This document is a General Decision wage determination issued by the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division for heavy dredging work in North Carolina, effective January 30, 2026 (Decision No. NC20260019), superseding the prior determination NC20250019.
The wage determination applies to all North Carolina counties and establishes prevailing wage rates for hydraulic dredges over 20 inches and hydraulic dredges under 20 inches. For dredges over 20 inches, rates range from $30.86 to $48.48 per hour across seven classifications (Classes A1 through D), with fringes ranging from 14.15a+b to 15.34a+b. For dredges under 20 inches, rates range from $7.71 to $10.03 per hour across thirteen classifications (Cook, Deckhand, Engineer, Launchman, Leverman, Mate, Mess Cook, Messman & Janitor, Oiler & Fireman, Shoreman, Spider Barge Operator, Spill Barge Operator, and Welder), with uniform fringes of 1.73+b. The determination includes incentive pay provisions for licensed operators and certified professionals, an additional 20% premium for hazardous material work, and paid sick leave requirements under Executive Orders 13706 and 13658. The document provides guidance on union rate identifiers, survey rate identifiers, and state-adopted rate identifiers, along with instructions for appealing wage determination decisions to the appropriate Department of Labor branches.
