(i) Contractor shall shut down chilled water plant or isolate system only after permission from hospital staff and outside business hours. Contractor shall demolish approximately 20 feet of 2.5 inch supply and 20 feet of 2.5 inch return copper chilled water piping, insulation, and all accessories. Contractor shall demolish approximately 5 feet of 1 inch, Schedule 40 PVC existing cooling coil condensate drain piping and all accessories.

(ii) Contractor shall carefully remove the existing cooling coils and raise each one up approximately 4 inches to center the coil in the existing air handler and provide a deeper P-trap on the condensate drain piping. Contractor shall submit a plan that shows how the coil will be re-installed in the unit to the COR, PM, and Facility Manager. Final location and installation plan shall be approved by the COR, PM, and Facility Manager including the mounting hardware material, locations, and type.

(iii) Contractor shall provide new chilled water supply and return connection penetrations through the existing air handler wall for each of the 2 raised cooling coils approximately 4 inches higher in height or to match the new coil level. The new coil connection penetrations shall match the existing penetration sizes to maintain the same coil connection size of 2.5 inches. The new chilled water supply and return penetrations shall be properly sealed around the perimeter and shall be air and water tight.

(iv) The contractor shall provide and install all new sheet metal baffling or fill to encase and enclose the cooling coil perimeter openings air tight. The contractor shall seal all baffling air tight with caulking, duct seal, or another approved method.

Final sealant plan shall be submitted and approved by the COR, PM, and Facility Manager.

(v) The contractor shall carefully remove the 2 existing drain pan assemblies and raise them approximately 4 inches or as close to the existing (newly raised) cooling coils as possible. Contractor shall slope both drain pans at a ¼” per foot slope toward the condensate drain(s). Both drain pans shall be re-caulked and completely sealed to hold any standing water. Contractor shall submit and get approval from the COR, PM, and Facility Manager for final drain pan installation plan, water tight sealing, and mounting hardware material and type.
