About this file

This document is a specification for topology diagram requirements for Department of Defense (DoD) network enclaves on NIPRNET and SIPRNET networks.

All topology diagrams must include a topology date, CCSD (preferably near premise router), and IP addresses for all devices within the enclave. Specific devices require additional detailed information: firewalls must document manufacturer, model, and software/firmware version; intrusion detection systems (IDS) must include manufacturer, model, and software/firmware version; servers must specify server function (such as OWA or Web Server) and operating system with the most updated Service Pack installed; and workstations must document operating system with the most updated Service Pack installed. The document references a sample NIPRNET/SIPRNET topology diagram illustrating the proper layout and labeling of network infrastructure across multiple buildings within an enclave. All enclaves and network infrastructure must comply with DoD-level policies, procedures, and guidance as specified on the Information Assurance Support Environment (IASE) website. The document also directs users to reference the NIAP-CCEVS (National Information Assurance Partnership - Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme) at http://www.niap-ccevs.org for a listing of compliant devices to be used in these network configurations.
