About this file
This document provides details regarding a federal contract opportunity for post 45 upper harbor dredging in Charleston and Berkeley Counties, South Carolina. The Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Charleston will award a contract for maintenance and new work dredging of approximately 4,012,000 cubic yards of unclassified material from the Charleston Upper Harbor, to be deposited in Clouter Creek and Yellow House Creek Placement Areas. The work includes complying with requirements of the Endangered Species Act and Marine Mammals Protection Act, and hopper dredges may not be utilized. Geotechnical survey data is provided for early review, with all other solicitation documents to be released on or around June 22, 2020. Formal solicitation amendments were subsequently posted on July 23, August 18, and August 21, 2020. The magnitude of work is estimated between $25,000,000 to $100,000,000.

G-1 GEOTECHNICAL BORINGS
NOTE 1: Borings drilled prior to 2004 were originally geo-located using South Carolina State Plane (South) NAD27, U.S. Survey Feet, or World Geographic Reference System. The pre-2004 borings listed in this attachment were transformed to South Carolina State Plane, NAD83 International Feet in 2012.
NOTE 2: Borings drilled prior to 2012 utilized Mean Low Water (MLW) Feet vertical datum. Boring drilled from 2012 to present utilized Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) vertical datum. To convert to MLLW, subtract 0.20 feet from the given MLW elevation listed on the boring log.
NOTE 3: Geotechnical reference tables 3-7 listed herein are taken from USACE, SAD, Division Manual, DM 1110-1-1; “Engineering and Design, Geotechnical Manual For Surface and Subsurface Investigations”, dated July 1985.

1 Datum NAD 83, South Carolina State Plane (feet).
2 Water surface elevation is based on real-time tide height data at MLLW from NOAA Station ID 8665530 at Charleston, South Carolina.
3 Calculated by added recorded water depth (- feet) to real-time tide height data at MLLW from NOAA Station ID 8665530.
4 Effective recovery length excludes length of material lost or intentionally discarded from below project depth.
