About this file

The document is a detailed specification sheet for an Autonomous Recorder, issued by the USDA Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station for a solicitation (1240BG25Q0066) to support environmental monitoring programs. The specifications require a robust, weatherproof recording device capable of operating in extreme temperatures (-4F to +185F) with IP67-rated polycarbonate construction, supporting up to 1TB SDXC cards and featuring extended battery life of 1330 hours.

The autonomous recorder must have precise technical capabilities, including a single or dual-channel microphone supporting multiple sample rates (8000-96000 Hz), a minimum 78dB signal-to-noise ratio, and programmable recording times synchronized with sunrise and sunset. The agency requires 313 units to support critical monitoring work under the Northwest Forest Plan Effectiveness Monitoring Program, which aids in tracking species presence and evaluating forest management actions across federal lands in the Pacific Northwest. The procurement directly supports legal compliance with the National Forest Management Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Environmental Policy Act.
