• Wingspan: Minimum 3.5 ft (approx. 1.07 m)

• Overall Length: Minimum 5.14 ft (approx. 1.57 m)

• Overall Height: Minimum 2.0 ft (approx. 0.61 m)

• Weight: Optimized for structural rigidity, transportability, and safe dynamic wind-load handling when elevated.

2.2 Visual Fidelity & Finishing

• Level of Detail: Exact replica scale fidelity is not required; however, the model shall present a crisp, highly detailed visual representation suitable for formal public and military display.

• Surface Features: Defined outlines and surface relief for:

• Cockpit / canopy seam lines

• Landing gear bay doors (closed profile)

• Weapons bay doors (closed profile outline)

• Color Specifications:

• Primary Camouflage Body: RAL 7012 (Basalt Grey)

• Secondary / Accent Trim: RAL 7005 (Mouse Grey)

• Markings and Graphics:

• Contractor shall apply precision stenciling/decals consisting of:

• Official Vermont Air National Guard (VTANG) tail flash

• Air National Guard (ANG) emblem/symbol

• United States Air Force (USAF) roundel / insignia

• Note: VTANG will provide all required high-resolution graphic vector files to the Contractor upon award.

2.3 Materials & Environmental Durability

All models and hardware are intended for multi-year, open-air outdoor installation in harsh northern Vermont climate conditions (extreme freeze/thaw cycles, high UV exposure, heavy snowfall, and sustained wind loads).

• Model Composite Shell: Premium Epoxy Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (FRP) composite system.

• Internal Structural Framing: Welded structural steel core securely bonded into the composite shell to interface with the external mounting bracket.

• Internal Steel Protection: All steel components encapsulated or internal to the

FRP structure shall receive a catalyzed automotive epoxy primer and protective paint system to eliminate internal corrosion.

• External Coating System:

• High-grade exterior paint system rated for commercial theme parks / municipal outdoor architectural installations, exhibiting outstanding UV resistance, colorfastness, and Class-A fire retardancy / flame-spread resistance.

• A minimum of two (2) coats of premium 2K exterior automotive/industrial clear coat for gloss retention and UV degradation prevention.

3. PROGRAM PHASES & SPECIFIC TASKS

Phase 1: Design & Structural Engineering

6. Design Review: The Contractor shall generate dimensional shop drawings and

3D CAD models of the F-35A display and mounting pedestal assembly for VTANG review and approval.

7. Mounting & Structural Engineering Certification:

• Because the static displays are elevated, the Contractor shall provide a structural calculation package stamped and certified by a licensed

Professional Engineer (PE).

• Load Rating: The mounting hardware, welds, fasteners, and internal model frame must be engineered to withstand self-weight, regional snow/ice accretion loads, and extreme local wind loads evaluated to at least 115% of maximum anticipated environmental design loads without permanent deformation or structural failure.

• Public Safety: The exterior envelope shall be free of burrs, exposed raw fiberglass shards, sharp metal edges, or structural pinch hazards.

Phase 2: Master Pattern & Tooling (Reusable Mold)

8. The Contractor shall fabricate a master pattern and durable production mold.

9. Mold Reusability Requirement: The mold shall be designed, reinforced, and stored/retained such that additional identical F-35A model shells can be cast or laminated in the future, providing cost efficiency for subsequent VTANG orders.

10. The Contractor shall verify that mold release agents leave no surface contaminants that could compromise exterior paint adhesion.

Phase 3: Fabrication & Pedestal Mounting System

11. Model Shell & Frame Fabrication: Lay up three (3) identical epoxy FRP shells around integrated internal steel mounting plates.

12. Pedestal & Base Plate System:

• Pedestal Mast: 4-inch nominal diameter structural steel pipe/pole.
