About this file
This is a Statement of Work for Solicitation No. 1240LU26Q0107, a U.S. Forest Service construction contract for solar water system installations in Montana.
The project consists of two separate work items: (A) installing solar pumps on one well and (B) converting an existing gravity-fed water system with a high-lifter pump and generator into a solar livestock watering system. Work item A includes mobilization (Pay Item A.1), installation of a submersible pump with solar AC/DC voltage, appropriate solar panels, stands, wiring, and plumbing connections to a storage tank (Pay Item A.2), and plumbing with installation of a maximum 2,400-gallon 10-gauge steel storage/stock tank (Pay Item A.3). Work item B includes mobilization (Pay Item B.1) and system conversion work (Pay Item B.2) that may require installing well casing or a minimum 10-foot sump filled by existing water from a headbox approximately 1,000 feet upstream, with a locking lid. Both projects are located on the Townsend Ranger District, Helena-Lewis & Clark National Forest in Broadwater County, Montana—the Elkhorn project approximately 13 miles northwest of Townsend, and the Magpie well project approximately 39 miles northeast of Townsend. The contract magnitude is $25,000–$100,000 with an estimated start date of September 1, 2026, and a 30 calendar day performance period. The contractor must furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and supplies; obtain all required permits and licenses; comply with federal, state, and local laws; contact Montana One Call before ground disturbance; maintain the site in clean condition; dispose of waste lawfully; and provide security for equipment and supplies.
