About this file
This document contains two technical scenario templates for contractor responses related to software support and troubleshooting services.
Technical Scenario 1 addresses Siemens NX 3D software licensing issues where multiple users are unable to access the software simultaneously despite adequate licenses being available on the license server. Users receive a "Licensed number of users already reached" error message despite only one user being able to access the software at a time. Technical Scenario 2 addresses Star-CCM+ CFD simulation support for a hypersonic vehicle external flow analysis that experiences repeated simulation crashes without obtaining valid solutions.
Both scenarios require contractor responses structured around three mandatory components: (a) Team composition and teaming arrangements with identified roles and responsibilities for subcontractors, partners, or Joint Venture members; (b) Detailed assumptions regarding interpretations of the technical task and the proposed technical approach to ensure Government understanding; and (c) Technical approach including step-by-step procedures and methodology, areas requiring investigation, and information necessary to perform the work. The document does not specify response dates, pricing terms, federal agencies involved, or other contractual details, serving instead as a template for evaluating contractor technical capabilities in software support scenarios.

Technical Scenario 1:
SUBJECT: TROUBLESHOOTING LICENSING ISSUES
EVENT: A new license file was received and installed correctly according the vendor instructions, however Multiple user of Siemens NX 3D software are unable to use the software simultaneously. There are more than enough licenses available on the license server but only a single user is able to use the software and all other users were blocked, receiving the message “Licensed number of users already reached.”
Responses to this event should include the following information:
(a) Team - Identify the contractor team members that need to participate in the effort; and if applicable, describe the teaming arrangements, roles, and responsibilities of any subcontractors, partners, and/or Joint Venture team members required to perform the work.
(b) Assumptions - Detail all assumptions relative to any interpretations made of the sample task and your technical approach to ensure full understanding of your response by the Government.
(c) Technical Approach - Provide a detailed description of the technical approach including a step-by-step procedure and methodology which would be used in accomplishing the task. Included in the technical approach should be areas that will need to be investigated, and information identified to perform the work.
Technical Scenario 2:
SUBJECT: TROUBLESHOOTING CFD/STAR-CCM+ SIMULATION ISSUES
EVENT: A user is having issue with a Star-CCM+ simulation that they are working on. The simulation is a hypersonic vehicle experiencing external flow over the airframe but the simulation continues to crash without obtaining a valid solution. The user reaches our to the vendor for support in order to get the simulation to work.
