About this file

This document is an attachment called the "STREAM Regional Factsheet" that provides an overview of the STREAM initiative, which aims to foster evidence-based and effective Natural Resources Management (NRM) in the Ferghana Valley region.

The STREAM initiative is implemented by Acted, an international non-governmental organization (INGO) that works across 43 countries globally in humanitarian, development, and environmental areas. The key objectives of STREAM are to empower local and national actors and promote dialogue to ensure sustainable development in the context of climate change. The initial target areas are Kozubaglan/Khoja-Bakirgan (Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan) and Ak Suu/Shahimardan & Isfayramsay (Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan). National partners include river basin organizations and ministries of water resources in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The initiative has a timeframe of August 2022 to May 2026.

The document also references a related federal contract opportunity called the "Green Economy Activity" solicited by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Central Asia Mission in Kazakhstan. The purpose of this activity is to build the capacity of the Kyrgyz Republic to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change in its economy to create a low-carbon, resource-efficient, and socially inclusive "green economy."
