About this file

This is a worker rights poster issued by the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division regarding the Davis-Bacon Act. The poster is mandatorily displayed by employers at worksites where laborers and mechanics perform work on federal or federally assisted construction projects.

The poster outlines six key worker protections and requirements. Workers must receive prevailing wage rates as listed in the Davis-Bacon Wage Decision posted with the notice. Overtime compensation must be paid at not less than one and one-half times the basic rate of pay for all hours exceeding 40 per work week, with few exceptions. Apprentice rates apply only to workers properly registered under approved federal or state apprenticeship programs. The poster emphasizes that retaliation against workers for filing complaints, cooperating in investigations, or testifying is prohibited by law. Enforcement mechanisms include contract payment withholding, liquidated damages, contract termination, and three-year debarment of non-compliant contractors from future federal contracts. Contractors who falsify payroll records or induce wage kickbacks face potential civil or criminal prosecution, fines, and imprisonment. Workers who do not receive proper pay or need wage information should contact the Contracting Officer or the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division at 866-487-9243 or dol.gov/agencies/whd.
