About this file

This document is a detailed project specification and supplemental specification for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Burning Star No. 2 - Coconut Road Reclamation Project located in Perry County, Illinois. The project involves the reclamation of a roadside area with dangerous eroded slopes adjacent to two 120" diameter metal culvert pipes crossing the Little Beucoup Creek. The scope of work includes realignment and construction of a single span PPC Deck Beams on spill through pile abutments with a 35-degree skew, placement of stone riprap, installation of 12" aggregate roadway pavement and earth shoulders, and complete removal of existing pipes. The project will be governed by both IDNR and Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) specifications, with IDOT Bridge Contractors encouraged to thoroughly review requirements before bidding.

The project is funded by the IDNR and will require comprehensive insurance coverage, including workers' compensation, commercial general liability, and automobile liability with specific minimum coverage amounts. The contractor will be responsible for field engineering, survey work, and maintaining accurate records. Special considerations include preserving existing roadways, managing stream crossings, installing temporary fencing, and implementing proper seeding and erosion control measures. The supplemental specifications provide detailed guidance on various aspects of the project, including definitions, legal regulations, structure excavation, pile augering, and traffic control, with most additional work considered incidental to the primary contract and not separately compensated.
