About this file
The document is a maintenance recommendations checklist from the Orange County Utilities Department for Private Pump Stations (PPS) and Private Collection Systems (PCS), dated February 11, 2011. The checklist provides detailed guidelines for routine, preventive maintenance activities to reduce system failures and associated repair costs. The recommended maintenance tasks are to be performed at various frequencies (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually), depending on the specific condition and usage of the pump station.
Key maintenance tasks include securing the pump station during visits, maintaining alarm systems, trimming landscaping, inspecting pumps and electrical components, verifying pump operations, recording motor run times, documenting maintenance activities, and thoroughly cleaning wet wells and sewer lines. The document notes that the frequency of inspection and cleaning may vary based on the waste levels and operating conditions, with more frequent maintenance required for pump stations receiving higher quantities of waste or those in less optimal operating conditions.
