About this file
This document is a Specifications Sheet of Requirements for RFP PR396113, detailing requirements for a Cryogen-Free Top-Loading Variable Temperature System. The system must be a dry, top-loading design with an integrated Variable Temperature Insert (VTI) featuring a 100mm diameter bore and tail-mounted configuration. Key technical specifications include a cooling range from ~2K to 300K, with a low-temperature 3He insert capable of reaching ~300mK and a high-temperature sample stick up to ~800K. Performance requirements include quick cooling times (sample positioner to 2K in <60 minutes), temperature stability of <±25mK for temperatures below 10K, and sample sticks constructed from low thermal loading materials like carbon fiber.
The system must incorporate advanced features such as automation, remote control, and a user-friendly software interface, along with a dry pumping system, water-cooled compressor, and helium dump storage vessel. Additional technical requirements include a rotation stage for sample sticks, automated needle valve control, heat switches with automatic and manual control, and comprehensive data logging capabilities for temperatures, pressures, and valve settings. The vendor must manufacture the equipment to agreed specifications and conduct acceptance tests at both their facility and the purchasing company's facility, ensuring the system meets all outlined technical and performance criteria.

Specifications Sheet of Requirements
RFP PR396113 Cryogen-Free Top-Loading Variable Temperature System
• Dry system (cryogen-free)
• Top Loading
• Integrated VTI with 100mm diameter bore
• Tail Mounted Design
• Cooling range:
o Base Unit: ~2K to 300K o Has a low temperature insert – 3He Insert: down to ~300mK (should include
3He) o Has a high temperature sample stick – up to ~800K
• Quick Cooling Times: sample positioner cool down to 2K in <60 minutes (or maybe <45 minutes?)
• Sample Sticks made of low thermal loading materials like carbon fiber
• Temperature stability – <±25mK for less than 10K, <±50mK between 10 – 200K, <±100mK for temperatures >200K
• The 3He low temperature insert should have a base temperature hold time near or about
60 hours
• The entire system should have some automation/remote control/software interface to be user friendly
• Have a dry pumping system
• Water cooled compressor
• Cooling power at 2W at 4.2K
• Make use of helium dump – storage vessel for helium gas for recirculation
• Connectors should be compatible with our facility standards
• Rotation stage to rotate the sample sticks and low temperature inserts that are automated
• Automated needle valve control
• Heat switches with automatic and manual control
• Data logging – the ability to log temperatures, pressures, and needle valve settings
• Manufacture and assemble the equipment based upon agreed specifications
• Verify with acceptance tests at seller’s facility and again upon delivery at Company’s facility.
