About this file
This document is a Local Preference Program attachment for the City of Long Beach procurement solicitation. The City of Long Beach applies a local preference program to favor businesses operating within its jurisdiction, offering additional credit points to qualifying vendors during the bid evaluation process.
The program awards five extra credit percentage points to all local businesses that maintain their principal place of business at a fixed location within the City of Long Beach and possess a current City of Long Beach business license and sellers permit, if applicable. An additional five percentage points are awarded to local businesses operating from a brick and mortar, commercial, or non-residential location rather than a residential location, potentially providing up to ten total extra credit points. Businesses must affirmatively request the preference in Attachment C and provide supporting documentation including a current, valid business license and current, valid sellers permit showing a place of business within City limits. Bidders must certify their eligibility by selecting either "yes" or "no" on the form, with failure to respond rendering the section incomplete. Businesses selecting "yes" must provide their business license number, sellers permit number, the licensed business address, and certification of whether the location is brick and mortar or residential. The form requires signature, date, and name of the authorized representative.
