About this file
Attachment A - Specifications is a procurement document from Garfield County, Colorado, soliciting competitive sealed bids for the 2025 Chipseal Projects. The document outlines a comprehensive road maintenance project involving chip seal and fog coat applications on seven county roads, including CR 78 (Buck Point Rd.), CR 79 (Basalt Mtn Dr.), CR 80 (Elk Range Rd.), CR 81 (Sunlight Dr.), CR 170 (Panorama Dr.), CR 233 (Silt Mesa Rd.), and CR 301 (Morrisania Mesa Rd.). The project involves applying either 3/8" or 3/4" chip seal with fog coat, covering a total range of approximately 0.28 to 7.8 miles per road, with widths varying from 24' to 45'. All work is required to be completed by August 31, 2025, with specific requirements for surface preparation, material application, and post-application sweeping.
The specifications provide detailed technical requirements for bituminous materials, aggregates, equipment, and application processes, referencing the Colorado Department of Transportation's 2022 Standard Specifications. Contractors must use specific asphalt binders (CRS 2R or CRS 2P), meet precise aggregate gradation standards, and follow strict application guidelines, including bituminous material rates of 0.35-0.60 gallons per square yard and cover coat material rates of 20-50 pounds per square yard. Additional requirements include traffic control, site restoration, one-year work warranty, and specific procedures for sweeping and material disposal. The project also includes provisions for equipment storage, site approval, and detailed inspection and testing protocols for materials used in the chip seal and fog coat applications.
