About this file
This document is a Brand Name or Equal Worksheet detailing salient characteristics for a Stryker Hybrid Operating Room (OR) equipment system for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The document specifies precise requirements for surgical lights, booms, and video processing units, including a single common mounting plate, electric brake system, specific electrical and gas services, and a 4K video routing platform with touchscreen functionality. The equipment is intended for VA facilities with Trans Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVR) programs, designed to integrate advanced imaging technology with traditional surgical equipment in a hybrid operating room that enables both minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. The specified system is the Stryker Oculan Surgical light and boom system with OR video routing, manufactured by Stryker Communications, and must be approved according to VACO/VISN project #691-CSI-204 design and construction drawings.

Brand Name or Equal Worksheet (“Salient Characteristics”)
Brand Name Item: Stryker Hybrid OR Booms, Lights and Video Processing
1) Essential/significant physical, functional, or performance characteristics.
a) Requirements ‐ The OR booms, lights and video processing unit must be approved per designs/drawings via VACO/VISN project #691-CSI-204.
The surgical light unit must have a single common mounting plate (not multiple suspension mounting)
The surgical boom unit must have a single common mounting plate with an electric brake system, The surgical boom unit must have 2 shelves with Fairfield shelf rail types.
The surgical boom unit must have high voltage services of 4 20A/125V Duplex (6 Outlets) along with 1 20A/125V-5-20R Simplex outlet.
The surgical boom unit must have low voltage services of 2 blank plates, 1 distribution Bd plate, 1 COR IP 4-in-1 Plate and 1 data pass thru plate.
The surgical boom unit must have gas services of 2 air; 1 CO2, 2 VAC; 1 N2O, 2 O2 and 1 WAGD with chemetron gas fitting types.
The OR video routing platform must be running on a scalable 4K system that also transmits audio and other specialized equipment data (as stipulated in the design specs).
The surgical lights, booms and video processing units must have wall mounted/controlled touch screen functionality.
b) Compatibility – Yes; With the approved design/construction drawings under VACO/VISN project #691-
CSI-204. (See Attachment B)
c) Dimensions/Weight – Yes, as specified via design drawings. See attached docs.
d) Industry Standard – Due to the complexity of surgery and the equipment requirements, VA facilities with an approved Trans Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVR) program must have a specialized OR Hybrid room to render the procedures. This requires tailored booms, lights and other equipment that must be spec’d out via design/construction drawings.
e) Purpose – The purpose of a hybrid operating room (OR) is a surgical suite that combines advanced imaging technology, like CT scanners or MRI machines, with traditional surgical equipment in a single space. This integration allows for both minimally invasive image-guided procedures and open surgical procedures, offering greater flexibility and efficiency for surgeons
f) Governing Body or Organization – N/A
Complete generic identification – Stryker Oculan Surgical light and boom system with OR video routing.
2) Applicable model/make/catalog number – Stryker Oculan Surgical light and boom system with OR video routing.
3) Manufacturer name – Stryker Communications
