About this file

This document is Attachment A, a detailed specification for wildlife-friendly livestock fencing issued by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District in California. The specification provides comprehensive technical requirements for constructing fences across four District Open Space Preserves, with precise guidelines for materials, construction methods, and fence components. The specifications cover fence height (54 inches), wire composition (five strands including four barbed and one smooth), post types (steel T-posts and galvanized pipeline posts), bracing requirements for turns and corners, and gate specifications for both medium and heavy-duty applications.

The technical specification mandates specific material standards, including conformance with ASTM standards for wire coatings and gauges, precise spacing requirements between wire strands, and installation depth for posts (either driven into native soil or set in concrete). The document allows for potential specification amendments at the sole discretion of the District Representative, indicating flexibility in implementation. Gate specifications are particularly detailed, differentiating between medium-duty gates (20-gauge steel, 1.66" OD tubing) and heavy-duty gates (16-gauge steel, 2" OD tubing), with specific requirements for bracing, post installation, and concrete usage.
