About this file
This document is a Standard Labor and Material Payment Bond for the City of Fairfax, Virginia. The bond is being issued in relation to a contract between the City of Fairfax, Virginia (the Obligee) and an unnamed Contractor (the Principal) for an unspecified project. The bond guarantees that the Principal will promptly make payment to all claimants, defined as those having a direct contract with the Principal or a subcontractor, for labor performed and materials furnished in the prosecution of the work provided for in the contract.
The document outlines the conditions under which a claimant may bring an action on the bond, the time limitations for doing so, and the jurisdiction in which such actions must be brought. It also provides for the reduction of the bond amount to the extent of any payments made in good faith under the bond. The bond must be accompanied by an affidavit and acknowledgement of the attorney-in-fact for the Surety.
