About this file
This is a contract specification and site plan document for a road resurfacing project issued by the USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Region.
The project involves resurfacing the Romero Camuesa Forest Development Road (5N15.3) located in Los Padres National Forest, Santa Barbara County, California. The work scope includes 1.3 miles of road resurfacing on a road with a total length of 6,864 linear feet. Two contract options are presented: a base contract for 2-inch asphalt paving with 1,495 tons of hot mix asphalt, and an optional 3-inch asphalt paving with 2,239 tons of material. Both options require mobilization, construction staking, contractor testing, erosion control and pollution control measures, and aggregate base installation. The pay items include aggregate base (Caltrans Class 2 AB, 50 cubic yards), roadbed reconditioning with asphalt pulverization (1 lump sum), and hot mix asphalt Caltrans 1/2 inch type A, PG 54-16. The contractor is responsible for water management, debris removal, waste disposal, utility locating before excavation, and traffic control in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The project requires submission of a construction schedule and traffic control plan prior to work initiation. This is a public works contract subject to Davis Bacon prevailing wage requirements. Equipment used on the project must be properly licensed, and all material quantities must be verified in the field by the contractor.
