About this file

This justification document supports a sole-source contract award to Oxford Instruments for energy spectroscopy maintenance services. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Forensic Science Laboratory in Atlanta requires preventative and corrective maintenance for its Aztec micsF+/x-stream2/X- Max50 EDS system. Only Oxford Instruments can properly maintain this equipment and its accessories due to exclusive manufacturer authorization. The services include unlimited remote desktop support, loaner equipment if needed, and on-site technician labor and travel covered under routine preventative and planned maintenance. The sole-source award is justified as Oxford Instruments is the only responsible source that can satisfy the agency's requirement to maintain manufacturer integrity for this specialized equipment.
