About this file
This Pre-Construction Risk Assessment details a VA mechanical systems upgrade project for Building 1, Floor 2 Imaging, Floor 3 Mech Penthouse, and Floor 5 ICU. The project is scheduled to start on 12/31/2025 with an estimated duration of 1 year (Project Number 668-22-105). Key risks and mitigation strategies include: short-duration HVAC outages coordinated after hours/on weekends, crane placement near the ambulance entrance causing a temporary loop closure, and a HAZMAT survey revealing asbestos-containing material (ACM) in the A524 Mechanical Room that will require specialized abatement. Additionally, the project will require an Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), potential patient flow disruption due to construction fencing, and may necessitate an Interim Bed (IB) reduction. Safety considerations include hot work permits, potential confined space work, and maintaining fire and life safety system integrity throughout construction.
