About this file
This document contains boring logs from a geotechnical subsurface investigation conducted by the Federal Highway Administration Western Federal Lands Highway Division in support of a project to widen and reconstruct a portion of the Grand Loop Road in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The boring logs provide details on soil and rock strata encountered at seventeen boring locations between the Golden Gate Viaduct and a point approximately at 44.8469, -110.7353. Details recorded include depth, composition, density, moisture, and visual characteristics of subsurface materials at half-foot intervals. Testing information like blow counts and rock quality designations are also noted. The investigation was performed between March and April 2017 to assess subsurface conditions for the planned road construction work.
