About this file
This document contains a table of borings for a geotechnical subsurface investigation. The Western Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration is conducting the investigation on the Grand Loop Road in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming in support of a project to widen and reconstruct a portion of the road from the Golden Gate Viaduct to a point at approximately 44.8469, -110.7353. The table lists 58 proposed boring locations along the road corridor, providing details on the purpose and specifications of each boring such as the latitude and longitude, estimated depths, sampling intervals, and access requirements. It also outlines the general standards for standard penetration testing, rock coring methods, and measures to minimize environmental impacts. An optional additional set of borings is included for alternative bridge and boardwalk alignments.

NOTES:
2) STP testing and sampling intervals for subgrade borings (prefix NGSG): At depths of 2.0' and 5'. Collect additonal bulk samples as described in Section F of the SOW.
3) HQ3 for all rock coring unless a portable rig is required. Rock coring performed at a location that requires a portable rig can be NQ3.
5) Minimize brushing and vegetation removal to the extent practical, brush plants several inches above ground level if required.
4) Borings NG20‐25, NG20‐29, and NG20‐30 are subject to change based on alterations to the proposed bridge and boardwalk alignment. These borings may be moved up to 50 feet away from their current location.
1) STP testing and sampling intervals for geotechnical borings (prefix NG): Every 2.5' from 0' to 20'; every 5' from 20' to bottom of hole or to competent bedrock. Competant bedrock is rock with a blowcount of 50 blow for 6" or more.
