About this file
This is a Statement of Work for machining and re-plating services performed at the Contractor's location. The scope involves processing 24 Main Pole Caps, which are low carbon steel structural plate components, each weighing 17.8 pounds. The Contractor must remove cadmium plating from each pole cap, machine the bottom side flat to within 0.005 inches, and then re-plate each cap per ASTM-B-633 Type VI Class 3 specifications. The minimum final thickness after machining must not be less than 0.595 inches. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard will ship the pole caps to the Contractor and is responsible for initial delivery.
Completed work must be returned to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the custom-made crates used for initial shipment. The Contractor shall return crates when full of finished plated pole caps, regardless of whether all 24 caps are complete. Any unused or unacceptable materials must also be returned to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Work requirements reference PNSY Drawing, Classic Main Pole Cap, and compliance with ASTM-B-633 Type VI Class 3 plating standards. Specification number is 20XX-XX.
