About this file
This is a comprehensive technical specification document for a Nurse Call and Code Blue Communications System for the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, as part of Project #652-323 to Improve Surgical Operating Access. The detailed specification covers the design, engineering, installation, and testing requirements for a complete communications system that must meet stringent NFPA Life Safety Code standards and VA telecommunications guidelines.
The specification requires a fully functional nurse call system that integrates with existing hospital infrastructure, including features like Code Blue emergency calls, staff stations, patient stations, dome lights, and electrical supervision. Key technical requirements include microprocessor-based components, non-volatile memory, continuous electrical system supervision, UL and NRTL certification, and the ability to interface with other hospital communication systems. The system must support 990 different call types, 99 staff types, full duplex audio communication, and maintain operation during power failures with a minimum 30-minute battery backup. The contractor must provide detailed technical submittals, perform comprehensive testing, and offer a two-year warranty, with technicians certified by the original equipment manufacturer.
