About this file

This document is an inventory table of vault toilet sites managed by Tonto National Forest South Zone, organized by ranger district. The inventory includes 61 recreation sites across three districts: Cave Creek Ranger District (9 sites), Globe Ranger District (12 sites), and Mesa Ranger District (40 sites). All sites are located in either Maricopa, Gila, or Pinal counties in Arizona.

Each site entry provides the following operational details: number of buildings, number of vaults, vault capacity (uniformly 1,000 gallons), precise driving directions and distances from Phoenix (ranging from 23 to 111 miles total), breakdown of paved versus unpaved road miles, and estimated pump frequency. Pump frequency varies from "Rarely" (0-1 times per year) to "Often" (2-3 times per year), with most sites in the Cave Creek and Globe districts requiring pumping rarely, while Mesa district sites with higher usage patterns are pumped occasionally to often. Sites with heavy visitor traffic and paved access roads—such as Acacia, Blue Point, Boulder, Butcher Jones, Granite Reef, Laguna, Larry Forbis, Palo Verde, Pebble Beach, Phon D Sutton, Raccoon Bluff, Saguaro del Norte, Sheeps Crossing, and Water Users—require the most frequent pumping services.
