About this file

This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document from the Department of the Air Force, Air Force Reserve Command, dated 16 June 2026, addressing inquiries from potential offerors regarding an RFI for 100-ton chiller rental services.

The government seeks a 100-ton temporary chiller unit rated at 480V, 3-phase power. Key mechanical specifications include 4-inch flanged-type water connections that are already installed in a plug-and-play configuration with existing pipe blinds. Cable and hose runs will require between 25 to 50 feet in length, with the chiller acceptable as either trailer-mounted or skid-mounted. The electrical connection point is a switch panel shown in provided photographs; the government will handle power connection per scope sections 3.1.4 and 3.1.5, with the contractor responsible for activation and operational verification once power is established. Breaker replacement and other electrical modifications are explicitly excluded from contractor scope. The government was unable to provide a data plate from the existing chiller system and confirmed that the existing chilled-water connection points and pipe blinds are already in place, eliminating the need for contractors to install these components. No response deadlines, award dates, pricing information, or contract vehicles are specified in this Q&A document.

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE

AIR FORCE RESERVE COMMAND

RFI B180 100-TON CHILLER RENTAL: QUESTIONS FROM POTENTIAL OFFERS

Date: 16 Jun 2026:

Q1: For the mechanical scope, the contractor will need clear photos of the existing chilled-water connection points / wet taps, if currently installed. If the wet taps are not currently in place, the installation of those connections may need to be included in the contractor’s scope of work, so confirmation is needed for accurate pricing.

A1: See pictures of existing chilled water connections

Q2: Additionally, please provide a clear photo of the data plate from the existing chiller system.

A2: Data plate not found on existing chiller. The temporary chiller should be 100-ton at 480V-

3PH.

Q3: For the electrical scope, the contractor will need clear photos of the electrical panel serving the existing chiller, including the panel data plate and an interior view showing the lugs. These photos will help confirm whether the existing breaker is adequately sized for the temporary chiller or whether a breaker replacement or other electrical modification may be required.

A3: Breaker panel was not accessible. Attached is a photo of the switch panel where the connection will be. The temporary chiller should be 100-ton at 480V-3PH. Breaker replacement or other electrical modifications are not in the scope. IAW the scope section 3.1.4 and 3.1.5, the government will connect the power to the temporary chiller. Contractor is responsible to turn on and make sure it is working properly once the power has been established.

Q4: From a mechanical standpoint, we will need clear photos of the existing wet taps, if they are already installed. If they are not in place, their installation will need to be included in the project scope. Additionally, please provide a photo of the data plate from the existing chiller system.

A4: Please see A1 and photo from A1

Q5: From an electrical perspective, please provide photos of the electrical panel, including the data plate and an interior view showing the lugs. This will help us determine whether the existing breaker is properly sized or if a replacement will be necessary.

A5: Please see A3 and photo included

Q6: What is the size of the water connection?

A6: 4”

Q7: Are they cam lock or flanged type connections?

A7: Flanged Type

Q8: Are pipe blinds already installed or will the contractor have to install connection points on the existing chiller loop?

A8: Already installed – it is plug/play

Q9: Do they want the chiller trailer mounted or skid mounted?

A9: Does not matter

Q10: What is the length of cable and hose runs needed?

A10: Between 25-50’ run needed
