About this file
This file is a Questions and Answers document for the METC Move furniture relocation and storage solicitation (FA301626Q3312) issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command for Joint Base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston.
The Q&A clarifies key requirements for the furniture relocation project: the contractor must disassemble, clean, and move approximately 5,711 pieces of dormitory furniture from Building 3312 to a climate-controlled warehouse where items will remain in storage for up to three years, with some furniture returning to JBSA in approximately one year and other items staying longer. The relocation price must include both the initial move to storage and the return move back to JBSA with reassembly. The contractor is responsible for assessing and determining the warehouse space needed, which must be climate-controlled to protect appliances and furniture from damage. Acceptable transportation includes commercially rented 26-foot box trucks or larger vehicles, provided they meet JBSA access, insurance, registration, and security requirements. The government will not provide a final inventory before work begins; quantities are specified in the Statement of Work. Required cleaning standards include dusting and wiping surfaces, cleaning with damp cloths, ensuring items are dry before storage, checking for pest or damage, covering items with protective covers, and storing in a clean, dry, climate-controlled area. Item weights range from approximately 20 pounds for desk chairs to 160 pounds for wardrobes. The quotes are due by September 21, 2026 at 1100 AM CST, with an October 15, 2026 hard deadline for final submission with no extensions permitted.
