About this file

This is a product specification document for an enclosed compressed air station to be installed at Naval Station Newport in Newport, Rhode Island.

The system consists of a weatherproof enclosure housing compressed air equipment designed to operate in external ambient temperatures ranging from -4°F to 100°F. The enclosure features a reinforced structural base frame with diamond plate deck, painted with KEM-FLASH metal primer and urethane alkyd enamel grey finish, and includes a lift-off housing with four minimum lifting rings. The housing is engineered to withstand 110 mph equivalent wind loads, 50 lbs./sq.ft. snow loads, and 4-inch per hour rain tests. The structure incorporates exterior aluminum panels with baked enamel coating attached to a tubular steel frame with a ridged roof sloped at 1:24, featuring at least 2 inches of thermo-acoustic mineral wool insulation (R4 per inch) and flexible fiberglass liner (R4.2 per inch). Access doors are equipped with stainless steel hinges, weather-tight gaskets, and three-point locking latches, with at least one personnel door featuring interior panic release. The system includes thermostatically controlled ventilation with intake louvers, exhaust ducts with gravity dampers, a wall-mounted exhaust fan, and wall-mounted heaters for low ambient operations. Electrical installation meets or exceeds NEC standards with 480V/3PH/60Hz power supply (156.2A total package FLA) and includes power distribution, step-down transformer, sub-panel, and LED lighting. The major equipment includes two BSD 50 compressors rated at 125 psig, two KAD 260EC3 filter packages, two 400-gallon air receivers, and one i.CF 10 unit. Compressed air piping is stainless steel with moisture separator(s), connected via a 2-inch stainless steel bulkhead fitting. Condensate management uses nylon tubing with oil/water filter/separator connection via 1-inch NPT bulkhead fitting. The estimated shipping weight is 34,000 lbs with dimensions of 33'L x 10'W x 10'-6"H.

Naval Station Newport - Newport, RI - Enclosed Air Station - Scope of Supply

• The compressed air station will consist of a weatherproof enclosure with compressed air equipment per the specific quotation. This will incorporate the following:

o An enclosure consisting of reinforced structural base frame with diamond plate deck, environmental barrier, all painted w/KEM-FLASH metal primer and urethane alkyd enamel grey finish. Includes 4 (minimum) lifting rings, onto which a lift-off housing is bolted and sealed.

o The housing is designed to withstand 110 mph equivalent wind load, 50 lbs./sq.ft. snow load, 4” per hour rain test. Exterior aluminum panels are coated w/baked enamel and attached to a tubular steel frame and ridged roof w/1:24 slope. The color to be Kaeser yellow - standard, other colors are available at additional cost. Walls and roof are at least 2” thick insulated w/semi-rigid, thermo-acoustic, non-flammable mineral wool, 100% fill (R4 per inch) and lightweight, flexible fiber glass liner with reinforced coating (R4.2 per inch), cleanable. Interior wall covering is perforated 18 gauge aluminum sheet, mill finish w/wall mounted aluminum document holder.

o All service/access doors to be fitted with overhead rain gutters, stainless steel hinges and handles, weather-tight gaskets, lockable with three point latches. At least one personnel door to be fitted with panic release from inside enclosure.

• The enclosure to incorporate a ventilation system sized to maintain a suitable environment for sustained, reliable operation and safe servicing of compressed air equipment, comprised of the following components:

o Thermostatically controlled intake louver(s) for fresh cooling air supply.

o Exhaust duct(s) w/gravity damper(s) are mounted to the compressor via a flexible connector for hot air discharge out of the enclosure. Recirculation louvers are also mounted to ducts to return warm air into package during cold operation.

o A wall mounted exhaust fan w/gravity damper ensures adequate ventilation in the event of high ambient temperatures.

o Wall mounted heater(s) to be installed for low ambient operations and cold temperature starts.

o During low ambient conditions the compressor station may be required to run in continuous operational mode to produce supplemental heating.

• Electrical installation within the enclosure/container to meet or exceed NEC, this includes power distribution (via individual circuit breakers), step-down transformer, sub-panel, LED lighting, at least one 120V receptacle, and an exterior mounted dusk-to-dawn fixture.

o Optional: A non-fused disconnect switch can be installed on the exterior of the enclosure as an easy access single point electrical connection.

• Compressed air piping within the enclosure to be stainless steel. Compressed air piping to include a flex connector and isolation valve at each compressor with a connection to common header. A moisture separator(s) will be supplied and installed, sufficiently sized for the compressor(s) output. Compressed air connection to be via 2" stainless steel bulkhead fitting on the enclosure exterior.

• Condensate management to be installed to handle removal and treatment of discharged condensate.

Condensate piping within the enclosure to be nylon tube, delivering condensate from each compressor and dryer to an oil/water filter/separator. Customer connection to be via 1” NPT bulkhead fitting on the exterior of the enclosure wall.

Major Equipment Included:

• (2) BSD 50 – 125 psig

• (2) KAD 260EC3 – filter package A

• (2) 400 gallon air receiver

• (1) i.CF 10
