About this file

This document is a detailed specification for fire ring design for the Bitterroot National Forest. The specification requires 52 fire ring units that must comply with Forest Service Outdoor Recreation Accessibility Guidelines. Key technical specifications include a 30-34-inch overall diameter fire ring constructed of 3/16-inch thick steel, finished in high-temperature, heat-resistant, nontoxic black enamel. The fire ring features a formed (not welded) 1-inch flanged lip, 10 1-inch diameter drain/draft/anchor holes, and a 290-300 square inch cooking grate made of A-36 steel bars with specific diameter requirements for different components. The grate includes two spring grips for public use and is attached via hinged eyelets. Each unit will be designed to be filled with aggregate and includes three 1/2-inch diameter anchor pins for concrete embedment, with a fill depth of 14-3/8 inches from the bottom.
