About this file
This document is Appendix G of the 2024 Disability Checklist developed by the City and County of San Francisco Human Services Agency (HSA) and Department of Aging and Services (DAS) for the Senior Accompaniment Services RFP #1269. The checklist is designed to ensure that all service providers deliver accessible and inclusive programming to San Francisco communities, particularly older adults and adults with disabilities. The RFP seeks proposals from nonprofit organizations to provide accompaniment services to older adults and individuals with disabilities who require community support due to safety concerns. A Pre-Proposal Conference is scheduled for November 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM via Microsoft Teams.
The Disability Checklist serves as an evaluation and compliance tool addressing three primary categories: physical accessibility, inclusion practices, and organizational experience. Physical accessibility requirements encompass site entrance accessibility, designated pickup/drop-off zones for accessible vans, public transportation proximity, accessible bathrooms and facilities, clear pathways for wheelchair users and mobility scooters, signage, and adequate lighting. Inclusion requirements address staff training in disability services, accommodation request policies, low-noise spaces, language accessibility procedures including American Sign Language (ASL), accommodations for deaf and hard of hearing clients, and staff training on respectful, person-first language when interacting with individuals with disabilities. Applicant organizations must also provide narrative responses describing their most challenging experiences serving deaf and disabled communities, their experience with adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and their targeted outreach strategies for these populations.
