About this file

This document is a comprehensive technical specification for a renovation project at the Doris Miller VA Medical Center in Waco, Texas. The project involves renovating Building 10 for a Community Living Center (CLC), with an estimated scope including removal of approximately 980 SF of non-ACM carpet, 3,300 SF of ACM floor tile and mastic, and 10 linear feet of ACM pipe insulation. The renovation will require specialized asbestos abatement using Class I negative pressure enclosure methods, with detailed requirements for worker safety, containment, removal procedures, and disposal.

The specification provides extensive technical details across multiple divisions, including structural steel framing (Section 05 12 00), masonry work, concrete placement, and specific requirements for demolition, environmental controls, and safety protocols. Key technical components include structural steel specifications, concrete mix designs, masonry unit requirements, and precise installation guidelines. The project involves complex demolition and renovation work within an active medical facility, with stringent safety, infection control, and environmental protection measures. The specification indicates a comprehensive approach to renovation that prioritizes patient safety, structural integrity, and adherence to federal construction and healthcare facility standards.
