About this file

This is a specification summary document for the State of Colorado, Office of the State Architect, State Buildings Program, detailing the modernization of passenger elevators at the State Capitol Building located at 200 East Colfax Avenue in Denver, Colorado (Project 2025-088M24). The project involves the comprehensive modernization of a duplex operation elevator system with two-car groups, maintaining existing specifications of 500 feet per minute speed, 2,500-pound capacity, four stops at floors G, 1, 2, and 3, and approximately 60 feet of travel. The scope of work encompasses replacement of the original Otis gearless DC hoist machines with new permanent magnet AC gearless machines, installation of new MCE iBox microprocessor control systems, new ReGen VVVF motor drive units, Hollister-Whitney governors, new hoistway door equipment, and comprehensive wiring and duct installation. Additional work includes installation of new car door operators, cab protective components, hall pushbutton stations with LED illumination compliant with A17.1-2019 standards, directional hall lanterns with "opposite elevator arriving" notification systems, and both top and bottom hoistway access switches. The specification document notes that certain existing components will be retained and refurbished, including bronze hoistway door panels, entrances, sills, car safeties, and buffers.

The specification summary document does not contain information regarding pricing terms, contract award dates, bid submission deadlines, site visit requirements, or bidders' conferences. The document explicitly states that the summary is a brief outline and that the body of technical specifications should take precedence in case of any discrepancies. Contractors are required to verify existing conditions on-site, including the approximate 60-foot travel distance, and ensure all installations comply with current building codes and the 2019 A17.1 elevator safety standards. No funding amounts, sources, set-asides, incumbent information, or contract term details are provided in this specification summary document.
