About this file

This document is an Attachment detailing Incentive Payments (Item 0005) for a contract involving tree manipulation, specifically for directionally pulling trees with roots attached using a cable yarder. The incentive structure provides financial bonuses for minimizing bole (trunk) breakage during tree tipping operations, with payment levels based on two root wad diameter categories and four tree size ranges.

The incentive payments are tiered from $25 to $300, depending on the tree's diameter at breast height (DBH) and root wad size. For trees with a root wad 3 feet or greater in average diameter, bonuses range from $50 for trees under 22" DBH to $300 for trees between 61"-76" DBH. For trees with root wads less than 3 feet, the bonuses are lower, ranging from $25 to $150 across the same size categories. Any discrepancies in the number of unbroken trees will be reconciled using the Government's figures before invoice submission.

Attachment #3

Incentives (Item 0005):

Bole breakage is more likely to occur when the Contractor manipulates large wood in certain project areas. Therefore, the contract may include the option for incentives to pay a bonus for every tree or snag with at least 90% of its bole left unbroken. Incentives only apply to Item 2 (Directionally Pull Trees with Roots Attached with Cable Yarder

(Tree Tipping). The following BPA Call Incentives may be included to encourage the

Contractor to take the extra precautions:

Tree with root wad 3 feet or greater in average diameter:

Level I: $50 for an unbroken tree less than 22” DBH

Level II: $100 for an unbroken tree ranging in size from 22” to 43” DBH

Level III: $200 for an unbroken tree ranging in size from 44” to 60” DBH

Level IV: $300 for an unbroken tree ranging in size from 61” to 76” DBH

Tree or snag with root wad less than 3 feet in average diameter:

Level I: $25 for an unbroken tree less than 22” DBH

Level II: $50 for an unbroken tree ranging in size from 22”- 43” DBH

Level III: $100 for an unbroken tree ranging in size from 44” to 60” DBH

Level IV: $150 for an unbroken tree ranging in size from 61” to 76” DBH

Any difference between the Government and the Contractor’s figures pertaining to number of pieces provided unbroken shall be reconciled prior to the Contractor submitting an invoice, or the Government figures will apply.
